Thursday 23rd June Newcastle/Saysutshun Island and Beachcomber

First of all last night’s sunset

Couldn’t believe the wind in the night – thought the furniture on the balcony was being pushed around!
Still windy this morning but at least the sky was blue. One last visit to Newcastle Island. Didn’t start off well with the ferry being full of schoolkids. Wouldn’t have been too bad but they were really noisy and when they started shouting, swearing and chasing a raccoon I was really angry. No point in trying to see wildlife with them near so waited a while for them to get ahead.

Thank goodness we did as we then saw another raccoon fishing further along the coast.

This Island has such beautiful views.

Heard a hummingbird and then actually managed to get a pic

Canada geese bobbing about on a very blustery sea
Ferry from the mainland arriving
Looking across the water to the beach we climbed down to yesterday
Stopped for lunch. Heard rustling behind me and this fella appeared. A blonde raccoon
Thought he was going to join us! Definitely a first for us

Thought we’d call in at Beachcomber on the way back. So glad we did as Jeannie was there and we saw some action in the nest.

Eaglet waiting for his tea
Vulture flies past
His Deliveroo order has arrived
Mum landing
That’s some mouthful

Apparently baby has been rearranging the furniture and Mum wasn’t too happy! 😂😂
Off she goes
Just time to say goodbye to Brynn before heading home

Another good day.

  1. Isn’t he wonderful Amanda. Been hoping to see him for a while. Couldn’t believe he just appeared and seemed to want to say hello. Definitely not shy like the rest.
