Morden Colliery Trail/Nanaimo River Trail

Lovely meal last night with Jeannie and great to watch the birds in her garden.

Sunny this morning so off we go to the other side of Nanaimo. Unfortunately it was pouring once we got there but as the trail is mostly under a canopy of trees it didn’t really affect us too much – until we saw a mummy pileated woodpecker flying backwards and forwards to her nest feeding her babies. Interesting trying to capture the shots and keep me and my camera dry!

Then we went to the trail along the River Nanaimo as it was only ten minutes away. It rained on and off but we didn’t get too wet and we did get some good shots of Mr and Mrs Quail – love those guys.

On the way back we went through a thunderstorm so, after a quick visit to Beachcomber Park we decided to come home. Lunch at Smitty’s and then a dip in the jacuzzi and a sauna. Not a bad day.

    1. I know – I’d never leave the house. And that was a very small selection. She’s also had a bear!
