Weather looked better than expected so we went to the Cable Bay trail. Chilly wind but warm in the sun. Saw a downy woodpecker (our first sighting this holiday) and a seagull eating his lunch – can’t say it looked very appetising!
Back to Nanaimo for a late lunch and the rain started as we were heading back to the car.Skunk cabbage very popular with bears
Downy woodpecker
This seagull was really enjoying his lunch – a channel catfish we think.
Dodds Narrows apparently often a playground for sea lions but they’re obviously doing other things while we’re around.
Tiger Swallowtail – beautiful.
Not sure what this little fellow is going to grow up to be.
Nanaimo – a very busy harbour.
