Monday 4th July Sooke

Weather looking a bit better today. At least it’s not chucking it down.

Off to East Sooke for a walk through the park. Raining a little but more misty than anything.

Misty harbour this morning

This wren was very busy
As was this Wilson’s Warbler

The climb to the viewpoint was quite steep for us oldies
But worth it

One very wet sparrow
Trying to dry himself off
Very misty
View down to the beach
The beach
Wren. Isn’t he cute!

Back to the flat after lunch at the 17 mile pub.

Heron on the lookout
Bald Eagle in his usual spot
And finally a kingfisher on the lookout for tea

Did as much packing as I could and sat down to relax.  Then saw this Eagle.

And then

Now there’s 2!
One moving in for something
And he takes it up to a post
Meanwhile back on the deck – an otter

The other Eagle flies off

Wonder what he’s got
A crab
Looks tasty
Oops
Plenty more
And back on the deck to clean off

Wonderful ending to our visit to Vancouver Island.

Except I couldn’t stop watching and now a raven decided to get in on the act
He found something of his own
His legs are so long
Decided to move further down the dock

And now there’s two Ravens to trouble him
Think he’s full and off he goes

  1. The mist make it look atmospheric!
    Lovely seeing eagles.
It’s mid 30s here in Venice! To hot to do anything, so sitting around cooling off with Apperol spritz.
