Sunday 12th June Float plane flight/Buttertub Marsh/Beachcomber Park and French Creek

Busy day today. First off we went on a float plane flight paid for by our wonderful children and their partners. Weather much better so the islands looked beautiful.

Paul getting ready for takeoff
He did let this youngster have a go at taking off. He did it surprisingly well!

A few of the views

Logs waiting to be shipped at Gabriola Island
Thought Paul didn’t do too badly considering it was his first time landing a plane

Coffee to recover and then off to Buttertub Marsh Bird Sanctuary

Such a beautiful place

Lots of these Redwing blackbirds
Such a sweet Song Sparrow. Sat still while I took his pic
Eagle being chased by a rook
Huge ants nest. Not sure I’d think to feed them but big sign telling us not to feed them rice or dried soup mix??
Turtles. First sight of them this holiday

This one has had enough of posing for the cameras!

Still lovely weather so popped into Beachcomber. Only Mum sitting on the nest although Dad did do a flyby.

However did get our first sight of a snake! Luckily he headed in the other direction.

Our last stop of the day was French Creek. We were going to pop into the pub for lunch but it doesn’t open on a Sunday. Weird, right! Wouldn’t work in England.

Did see a harbour seal though

And this gull eating a huge piece of fish

Surprised he could swallow it!

Busy day and glad to get back and have something to eat.
