24.06.16 Nanaimo/Beachcomber

Weather a lot better today and decided to explore a new trail Jeannie told us about yesterday. Right in the heart of Nanaimo we found a rainforest. Looked like it should have been in the Eden Project – amazing. 210 steps down to Departure Bay beach.

Then had a coffee on the harbour front before walking the trail at Pipers Lagoon and Neck Point park.

Finally had to pop in and see the Eagle family. They were a little fed up of performing but did manage to see mum bring in some more bedding and she and the baby sorted the nest out a little more.

Finally it was beer o’clock, 6pm today, at Lefty’s.

Dad needed sprucing up before his photoshoot!
Not sure what she was saying but it wasn’t good!
Have they had a falling out?
Mum tidying up the nest again
Californian Grouse with her babies carefully hidden in the grass
Got stuck three times at railway crossings as this van drove along the tracks
Walk through the rainforest
Discovery Bay
Taking the dogs for a swim/walk?

  1. Happy you enjoyed the Beach Estates Trail to Departure Bay! Was a ferry in dock when you were down there?
Maybe the Eagles at Beachcomber Park are tired of entertaining us! Tomorrow may be a better action day to send you on the continuation of your adventure!
I thought I could see the Quail babies hidden in the grass!
So happy we met! Been a joy to share the eagle family with you!

    1. No ferry in the dock but interesting to see the beach from that perspective. Sorry we didn’t see you today but will look forward to seeing your pics.
